Pedestil basins made to order. Because our basins are made by hand, we sometimes get asked the following questions: Are they as strong as commercially made basins? Yes, they are as strong, if not stronger, than any factory made basin and can not be damaged by the normal wear and tear that a wash basin is subject to. Their strength comes from firing the kiln to over 1300 degrees celsius which makes them extremely hard and durable. Will the glaze rub off, stain or mark in any way? No, definitely not. The glazing process actually permanently fuses a layer of glaze to the clay at 1300 degrees celsius giving it a surface that is stain resistant and very easy to clean and maintain. Are they harder to fit? No, they are just as simple to fit as any other basin. Due to the varying shrinking rates of clay the basins are not all exactly the same dimensions. This is not a problem as all you have to do is trace it, and cut the hole and it fits perfectly. Steps you have followed anyway. |
