| About us. Ian has been working with clay for over twenty years. He started out as a seventeen year old, having been inspired by a wonderful art teacher at school. ![]() Working from his parents garage, Ian taught himself to make pots on a wheel. He started selling his work at markets in and around Brisbane. At twenty- one he opened his own gallery and workshop in Milton, Brisbane. Moving to the Blackall Range on the Sunshine Coast in 1983, Ian started working at the old Montville Pottery. From there he went on to open his own gallery and workshop, Flaxton Pottery, where he successfully made and sold pottery for 18 years. This is where he met Christine. Their love of pottery and art brining them together. |
Christine has always enjoyed sketching and painting, so glazing and decorating pottery became an extension of these interests. Christine's work prior to pottery had always been in kindergartens and in children's activity centres where arts and crafts had played a major part.
Ian and Christine's work and skills have grown together over the ten
years they worked together at Flaxton Pottery and feel they have formed
a great working relationship. They are proud of the work they produce
and believe it has wide ranging appeal. With Ian making the pots and
Christine glazing and decorating them, they believe they make a great
team. |
